The family owned business is in its third generation of ownership under the current ownership of Bobby Leon, who has owned the store since 2001 when Harold Leon passed away.

Chesnick Furniture Co. has been a staple to the downtown Victoria community for years. The company got its start with Ed Chesnick, who immigrated to Victoria from Russia. He joined as manager and partner with Holland-Amdur Furniture Company. However, in 1944, he purchased the business and made it his own. Leon describes the business in the beginning as a "sell everything kind of business". Over time, it transitioned from being a "sell-it-all store" to focusing on what they know best, furniture and appliances.
While the company moved into its current location in 1950, they added a second story in 1956. This is one of many adaptations that Chesnick’s has made over the years to adapt to the needs of their customers. They even offered in-house financing until about 25 years ago. Their ability to adjust over time has been a major contributing factor to their success over the years.
One of the most interesting unknown facts about Chesnick’s is an employee who had worked for the company for 77 years. David Garcia started with the company back in 1942 and worked for Chesnick Furniture Co. until he passed away in 2019. He worked in just about every role over his career with the company, and even in 2019, he could still be found there daily around the store performing various roles. He witnessed the company go through multiple transitions and a relocation over his time with the company.
Chesnick’s long existence in business has also allowed them to serve multiple generations of families. They have some customers who they sold furniture to their parents, grandparents, and in some cases, great-grandparents. The personability they offer to their customers has allowed them to stay in business for so long.
